2 slices of bread
plenty of butter
8 slices of Gouda cheese (must use expensive cheese; a cheap alternative is not acceptable)
1 jar of modge podge
Slather the butter on the bread, place in frying pan, top with cheese and second piece of bread, also slathered with butter.
Leave on stove on medium heat. Go into the sewing room to work with modge podge. While it is cooking, revel in the delights of modge podge composing the tribute to modge podge you plan to post on your blog when you finish.
When your husband, who has to wake up shortly before dawn, wakes up from a sound sleep to ask if something is burning assure him in an annoyed tone that you are not cooking anything. Several minutes later jump up from the floor and dash into the kitchen to remove the pan from the stove. Your grilled cheese sandwich will be charred to perfection.
Allow to cool while you put the screaming baby, who also detected the strong aroma of smoke inhalation, back to sleep. When you go back downstairs, confirm the smoke all drifted upstairs. The sewing room was virtually smoke free so you are free to continue extolling the virtues of modge podge while your family continues to choke.

That is hilarious! I have several recipes similar. Just yesterday I made put-water-on-to-boil-but-turn-on-the-wrong-burner-until-smoke-detector-goes-off.
YOu left out one little instruction...how to disengage the smoke detector....I remember a sign your mother had in her kitchen, "Dinner is ready when the smoke alarm goes off". I see you're following in her footsteps.
It looks like chocolate cake, it can't be THAT bad. Ha!
